CAMRAmble– Blaydon to Ryton Linear Walk (via Greenside)
Saturday 17 October 2026 – 12.00 noon to 6.45pm (approx.)
Grade: Moderate to Strenuous
Mileage: 6.5 – 7.00 total approx.
Terrain: mostly on tarmacked paths but also pavements, country lanes and footpaths. Good strong walking shoes or boots are recommended.
5 stiles in reasonable to good condition
PLEASE NOTE:
1 / the ½ mile walk up Stella Lane is very steep
2/ we cross the very busy A695 twice which requires extreme caution and awareness
Overview: Our group will meet at The Half Irish Micropub in Blaydon (opens 12 noon) and the walk will commence at 12.40pm prompt.
We will then take a stop at The Black Bull before continuing to The Board Inn at Stella 9arring approx. 2.15pm) which will be our lunch stop.
After about 1 hour we will walk to the White Swan at Greenside before heading to Ryton.
The last leg of our walk will be to Ryton arriving at about 5.45pm.
On reaching Main Road in Ryton you have the option to leave the group and visit The Lane Head pub or depart for home.
The group will then visit Ye Olde Cross (arriving at about 6.00pm) before finishing the walk at The Lane Head.
Dogs are allowed on our walks but please check with the pubs that they are “Dog Friendly”.
Please be patient when waiting to be served at pubs. On a Saturday afternoon pubs will be very busy with diners and be crowded.
