Created when Border brewery, formed in 1992, re-located from Tweedmouth, Northumberland and took over the premises of Four Rivers brewery which closed. The Hadrian connection arises because Four Rivers brewery was the Hadrian Brewery between 1991-97 and its founder was the former Four Rivers brewer. At the moment the twenty barrel plant produces ten different real ales from the portfolios of both breweries. Around 100 pubs are supplied from Glasgow to North Yorkshire. Beers are often available in Sir John Fitzgerald pubs. In 2010 the brewery moved to larger premises at Newburn with a state of the art new brewery!
